🏖️ Beaches in our Area
Agios Nikolaos Beach

Route from Alexandra's Coffee House
Mandrakia Beach
Mandrakia Beach in Zakynthos (also known as Madrakia) is a beautiful beach with sand and pebbles, near the port of Agios Nikolaos in northern Zakynthos, surrounded by pine trees that offer shade, with clear blue waters and taverns nearby, ideal for tranquility and fresh fish.

Kremmidi Beach
Kremmidi Beach in Zakynthos is a secluded, rocky cove in the north of the island, known for its crystal clear waters, pebbles and tranquility, accessible mainly by boat or by a steep path, making it ideal for those looking for "hidden" paradises away from the crowds.

Klimati Beach
Klimati Beach in Zakynthos is a beautiful, unorganized, U-shaped pebbled bay with clear waters and a deep seabed, ideal for swimming, which stands out because it receives a combination of warm and cold waters due to underwater springs, creating a unique temperature experience. It is surrounded by rocks and lush vegetation and offers tranquility and natural beauty, without umbrellas or beach bars.

Makrys Gialos
Makris Gialos beach is located on the northeastern side of the island, located between Alykes and the port of Agios Nikolaos 8 kilometers from our accommodation.
It has crystal clear, deep turquoise waters and is pebbly.
It is surrounded by steep cliffs and has impressive sea caves that are accessible for swimming.
It is considered an ideal spot for snorkeling and diving due to the clear seabed and caves. It has a limited number of umbrellas and sun loungers, while above the beach there are traditional taverns. Access is easy by road, as the main road passes right above, with a few steps leading to the shore.
Notes for 2026: Due to the many visitors, the parking access to the beach fills up quickly during the summer months (July-August), so it is recommended to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Xigia Beach
The beach of Xigia, 11 kilometers from our accommodation, is unique in its kind in all of Zakynthos.
Don't be put off by the "strange" smell that overwhelms the area where Xigia beach is located. It is for a good cause! Its waters contain sulfur in a large proportion, hence the special smell. The sulfur comes from the neighboring caves and offers healing properties to the beach, making it ideal for those who suffer from leg pain and arthritis. It also helps in the treatment of cellulite.

Pelagaki Beach
Hidden between hills and not so easily accessible, it remains familiar to few, but it stands out as a small, Mediterranean paradise.
You may see the coast also referred to as “Pelagaki”, but the correct name is “Pelagaki”. Being also in Zakynthos, you may also hear it as “Little Xigia”, which simply indicates its proximity to the much more famous Xigia beach, whose thermal, sulfurous waters attract many visitors every summer – especially people suffering from arthritis, cellulite and skin problems.Hidden between two hills, the beach stands out thanks to its rocky ends. Photo: Pericles Merakos

Pelagaki seems hidden between two low hills, and there is no road that leads directly to the beach, which means that it takes a bit of walking to get here.
This, combined with the fact that it remains a relatively unknown location to many, helps it maintain an isolated character, as a result of which it avoids excessive crowds even at the peak of the Greek summer. Note, however, that in August it is usually quite busy.
If you get here, however, you will realize that your effort was more than worth it. The beach leaves a strongly white feeling, thanks to its white pebbles, while it also has beautiful, rocky ends with a low height, which those who love diving can easily climb.
At the same time, however, these formations also sculpt a wonderful seabed: if you love swimming with a mask and snorkel, you should definitely bring them with you.

🚤 Beaches You'll Love ( Only By Boat )
Blue Caves
The Blue Caves are one of the most famous and advertised natural attractions of the island and it is possible to visit them either by your own boat or by one of the many organized boat excursions.
They consist of peculiar geological formations that have created a series of caves along the northwestern coast of the island; they begin just after Agios Nikolaos and end near Cape Schoinari.

Shipwreck Beach
Shipwreck Beach is undoubtedly the most famous beach in Zakynthos and Greece. Its photographs appear in the largest and most important tourist guides worldwide and there is no travel agency in the world that organizes trips to our country that does not have at least one impressive poster of Shipwreck.
The beach of unparalleled beauty is the result of the whims of nature, the western, seismic coasts of Zakynthos and the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea that have been sculpting the steep rocks of the wild nature of this side of the island for centuries, breaking them into small, white pebbles. This maritime accident occurred in this area on September 30, 1982, and the merchant ship "Panagiotis" with a crew from Kefalonia ran aground in the area. The ship was carrying an illegal cargo of boxes of duty-free cigarettes and in the following days the ship was looted by the villagers, after its crew abandoned it.Whatever could be detached over time was detached from the ship and its carcass remained, battered by the wind and waves and eaten away by the salt.Little by little the waves accumulated more and more pebbles, expanding the beach and cutting off the contact of the ship's carcass with the sea. Then tourism began to develop even more in the area.Boatmen who were already organizing excursions to the nearby blue caves for tourists began to include a stop at the shipwreck beach in their itinerary. The first photographs were taken that traveled around the world, causing an impression and attracting the attention of all visitors. The rusty ship, the white, pebble beach, the steep rocks and the beautiful colors of the sunset became the most famous image of Zakynthos.

National Geographic described it in 2008 as the most beautiful beach in the world, while TripAdvisor has featured it on its annual list of the 25 best beaches in the world many times.
The area is a famous tourist destination, even for alternative tourism, as free parachute drops are organized every year from the rock to the shipwreck beach, while impressive videos of this risky attempt are circulating on the internet. Ludwig Salvatore, in his book "ZANDE", published in German in 1904 in Prague, is the first to sketch the area, looking at it from above and captioning the sketch "CLIPS FROM MAGLIERA". The pencil sketch immortalizes the steep rock and the northern side of the islet with the recess where the "Panagiotis" ran aground in 1982. It is perhaps the first known depiction of the area, which, as we already mentioned, became the most photographed spot on the island. Information from Charalambos Tortorelis
